RCIC struggles

Yet another meltdown tonight. The 10th has snuck up on me and I reminded the kids today about the new RCIC meeting tomorrow night. This sparked some moaning from my son but boy was I in for it when I reminded my daughter! She really blew another gasket. I knew she didn't want to go and have posted about that but it's really tough. This is the child that is NEVER the squeeky wheel. I mean she just isn't but this is really getting to her. I'm not sure why exactly. But, she told me that she doesn't want to go (same with Sundays) and that when she goes to RCIA with me she doesn't listen to a word they say. Same with Mass and that by making her go just makes her rebel more against it. She admitted that she is being stubborn and is now giving me the silent treatment.

I have to tell you. I don't even know what to say. I told her that it is ultimately her decision what she does with her time there. I cannot make her listen. But I can pray that some of what is being said will sink in, make some sense or touch something in her heart... (I didn't tell her that part!)

Remember this is the time in a youths life where they feel so many things - conflicting ones, as well. They are trying to be independent and "free" . . . they don't need anybody! ;) Hang in there and keep praying. One day when she looks back, what will seem the hardest thing to her will be her head. Trust me.
