This topic actually comes from something I read in a Focus on the Family email. Some people don't like them but I tend to read most everything I get in my email that is faith related :-) I also tend to find a gem among all of them. So, this got me thinking today about how much society has downgraded our men! Most every commercial you saw during the superbowl was in some way or another bashing men. They are made to look stupid, inconsiderate and selfish at every turn now a days. Take a look at almost any popular TV series and even many books.
This is actually a topic that has bothered me for some time now and I myself got caught up in it. But, what I've found is that our men are suffering because of it. Not that we cannot be self reliant women, not that we aren't smart but when you take away all of a mans power it really seems to do something to him on a very deep level. Now, I'm no expert so don't get me wrong here but I've noticed this in my own relationship and others around me. I think sometimes men act like they don't want the responsibilities but it really affects them when they don't have it. Have you met a man who is out of work? Having relationship trouble? Having a problem with a sick child or defiant child? They just seem to worry differently and deeply.
I picked the pictures for this post not because of Firemen or because of Soldiers or because of Superhero's per se but because of the many roles men play in our lives.
They are protectors. Have you ever seen how a man reacts when someone insults his wife? Or when a boy does his daughter wrong? It can be pretty intimidating!
They put out the fires! We hear all the time that men are fix it people. Well, they are. That's just how their minds work. You tell them something is wrong and they start thinking of ways to fix it. If you don't want it fixed, why did you mention it? lol Do you take your car to a mechanic to chat? No, you take it there to have it fixed! By trying to fix things our men are showing us that we and the things we are saying are important! If they weren't he certainly wouldn't even think about fixing them :-)
There is so much more I could say on this topic and I hope that I haven't offended anyone. I have nothing against "women power" or anything but I do think that society is tearing our men apart and sometimes we are helping them do it! Our men are wonderful, truly a gift from God. I pray today that we can each remember what it was that first made us fall in love with these guys and be mindful of what we say and/or do and how it may affect our LOVED ones. Instead of tearing Our Guys down lets take an extra step and build them up instead! I believe the benefits of this would strengthen our men, our families and ourselves.

I think you are absolutely right..no need to apologize..they need to know they are our heroes..God really made them that way and without building them full of false pride or anything, we need to let them know how appreciated they are..I don't do enough of that so, thank you for reminding me of something that I think I do enough, but really don't. Good post!
Nicely done! My husband, sons, sons-in-law and brothers are my heros too!!!God bless them heartily, one and all!!! Cathy
I love men - always have. I make it a point to tell my husband I appreciate what he does. And I'm working hard on not getting annoyed with him for little things. Thanks for this post.
