My first contest!

OK I'm getting on the bandwagon! I am doing my first contest here on blogger! I'm excited :-)

I have two fabulous books to share with someone!

Without a Doubt by Bishop Thomas J. Tobin. A collection of engaging reflections that provides a bracing orthodox guide for all those who wish to live the truth of the Gospel. This book is unique because it covers a wide variety of topics that were written independent of each other by Bishop Tobin and then combined for this book.

Where is God? by Dr. John Townsend. You can read my review here.

To win this collection of books which would be great Lenten reading simply...

1. Comment to this post with one thing that you think would be helpful for a new Catholic to know about Lent. This can be a Church teaching or personal experience. This will give you one entry.

2. Share my contest with your blog readers! Just mention my contest on your blog with a link over to this post. Comment and let me know that you did for another entry.

3. Of course shamelessly plugging myself - follow me and get yet another entry!

Contest ends Saturday February 20th Midnight EST :-)

Julia,
I posted about your contest and left a link to your site :) You don't have to enter me though, I just want people to check out your blog. A friend of Jesus is a friend of mine:) God bless you!

Mary should win for her humility, yeah? ;)
I will put up a post momentarily.
I think a thing a new Catholic should know about Lent is: study the Beattitudes and reflect on them daily. Also, to know that whatever you may "give up" during Lent, you will likely slip up - so be forgiving of yourself. One thing I have begun doing the past few years is to do something else - pray the rosary daily or pick a litany to pray daily; find a daily meditation book on Lent . . . you know, add Catholic reading.
God bless you now and during this Lent!

Thank you all and Thank you for your input Sarah! I did pick up a little black book yesterday that I haven't really thumbed through yet.

My son is already looking forward to Fridays because he absolutely loves to cook tilapia.. strange but true!

It's great to meet you Cathy :-)

Hi, Julia! Nice to meet you. Thanks to Sarah for helping me find you. Also, welcome to our shared Catholic Church and faith life! :)
Boy, these books look great!

For me, like Sarah said, is a time not to be too hard on yourself if you plan to give up or do a certain thing x amount of times. Actually, it is a time to be good to yourself, in that you are taking the time to get closer to Jesus and to Mary and even for me..Mary Magdalene, St. John. I reflect on those three who followed Jesus all the way. I feel it is important because we want to follow Him all through our lives and to stand strong to defend our Faith in this or that all the way through. We may not be perfect at it and we may not be "just" like them, but we can practice something new each year and maybe a little more than that, so that we have a much more difficult time turning away and hiding, if that makes sense. So, it doesn't matter what..you know yourself more than anyone does..you know that things you need to work on. Pick one or two of the ones that give you or others more grief and give it your best. You will learn something for sure and you'll know it was the next right thing to do..in fact, that is one step there..just trying to do the next right thing in all circumstance. Not always easy, but one foot in front of the other. :)

Now, I'll try to link you, abut I am not sure how to put you on my sidebar, as fellow blogger (Fifty Something) does that for me! :)
We'll give it a whirl though!
Thanks..this was fun!
